Governor Sarah Palin’s Headlines – Is This Really News?

Category: 2008 Election,PoliticsTim @ 8:03 am

I suppose it was bound to happen with a woman running for Vice President, but it seems to me that the headlines surrounding Governor Sarah Palin are going from bizarre to insane. Here are a sampling of headlines from the news today:

  • Republicans spent $150000 on Sarah Palin’s clothes – Really? The party spent money to make sure the candidate looked as good as possible? Is this a new thing? I bet the Democrats don’t get Obama’s suits from JC Penney. Add to that all the critiques from Hollywood in “red carpet review” shows and is it any wonder why the party would be concerned?
  • Guess Sarah Palin’s alias in NYC? – Seriously. There are stories about the name Palin used at the hotel in New York this past weekend. Is this news? Don’t bother with the article, she used Tina.

And my personal favorite “new headline”

  • Palin’s mimic ‘glues down ears’ – You heard that right. There are “news” stories about Tina Fey having to glue her ears down to look like Sarah Palin. In related shocking news, Darrell Hammond wears a wig to portray former President Clinton and Fred Armisen uses makeup to look like Senator Barack Obama!

These types of headlines are making a mockery of Palin’s campaign and will give both parties pause when considering putting a woman on the ticket again. It surprises me that the media would be so anti-woman in their actions. Attack candidates on their experience, stance on the issues, voting records, and beliefs, not on their clothes, hair, kids, or ears.

Shameful.
